What is hapkido? Hapkido is a Korean martial art that is derived from the samurai’s martial art of Daito Ryu Aiki-Jutsu. The word Hapkido translates to “the way of coordinated power”.
What is the difference between this hapkido program and other martial art programs? It’s really quite simple…our program is designed with today’s environment in mind. It permits people of all ages to participate because there are no fancy, flashy moves, no hard throws, no competitions, etc. We simply focus on functional, practical self defence that is fun and easy to learn. Everyone learns at their own pace, has the ability to learn a technique and discover how to make it work for themselves. Since everyone is different, we all have different learning styles, different ways of movement, different athletic abilities, etc. having the ability to discover what works for you is essential.
At what age can a person start learning this hapkido program? Students can attend our classes as young as 8 years of age.
What makes Trident Defensive Arts stand out from the rest? As our philosophy states: Under NO circumstances do we condone violence but as a Canadian citizen, you have the inherent right to self defence - that’s what we are about. We stand firm in our belief that everyone, regardless of their age, gender, nationality, etc. should learn how to protect themselves, and do so affordably. All of our responses to violence and aggression shall be legal, moral, and ethical.
