Welcome to

Trident Defensive Arts

Who Are We?

We are a Canadian martial arts program that is deeply rooted in Chon Tu Kwan Hapkido. The logo’s trident and shield represent personal protection in conjunction with the mind, body, spirit connection.

The spirit of the Trident Defensive Arts program is pure, functional self defence - it is the fusion of dynamic concepts, scientific principles, and realistic applications.

Our techniques are based on the principle of weaknesses in human anatomy as well as psychology and tactics. It is ideal for everyone of all ages because strength and athletic abilities are not essential. the emphasis is on redirecting the violent behaviour back towards the aggressor with little effort and minimum force on your part.

Like almost all martial arts, joint locks, throws and takedowns, punches and strikes, and kicks are included within this program; the difference being, several strikes are preferably delivered with an open hand, possibly preventing damage to the hand itself; kicks are focused on the lower body because they are easier to execute, they do not leave you off balance.

We are an all-inclusive martial arts program, welcoming everyone with varying experience levels, ages, genders, athletic abilities, etc. All are welcome to join in and have fun.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our philosophy is simple…under NO circumstance do we condone violence, but you have the inherent right to self defence.

Our responses to violence will be legal, moral, and ethical.
