TRIDENT DEFENSIVE ARTS

ABOUT US

Trident Defensive Arts was founded to address the need for an accessible and pragmatic approach to self defence in contemporary society. The prevailing perception of self defence often reduces it to mere physical confrontation, such as punching or kicking; however, it encompasses a far broader spectrum of skills and knowledge.

In our workshops, we explore the Canadian Criminal Code, principles of use of force, and the concept of the reactionary gap, alongside the psychological and physiological dimensions of personal protection, including stress management and motor skills development. It is essential for individuals to comprehend the physiological and psychological responses that occur when confronted with violence and aggression, as well as the aftermath of such encounters.

Our programs are designed to be inclusive, welcoming participants of all experience levels, ages, genders, athletic abilities, and nationalities. We encourage everyone to engage, learn, and enjoy the process.

Our philosophy is straightforward: we do not endorse violence under any circumstances. However, as Canadian citizens, individuals possess the inherent right to self-defense. Our approach to addressing violence and aggression is grounded in legality, morality, and ethics.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FROM SELF DEFENCE TRAINING?

Self defence training offers numerous significant advantages, including…

Physical: stamina, endurance, muscle tone, weight loss, flexibility, balance and coordination, and stress reduction

Mental: self confidence, self discipline, positive attitude, patience, perseverance, respect, and courage

Other: improved concentration, increased awareness, knowledge of human anatomy, defensive strategies, self defence techniques, and an understanding of the legal aspects of self defence

School-aged children, adolescents, and adults are increasingly overwhelmed by the demands of social media, educational commitments, professional responsibilities, and social interactions, resulting in insufficient physical activity for both their bodies and minds. Engaging in self defence training offers an effective means to reconnect with fundamental principles of physical and mental exercise. Research has demonstrated that consistent physical activity enhances mood, focus, concentration, and overall attitude, while fostering a profound appreciation for the capabilities of the human body.
